Chocolate, Orange, and Almond Cookies

INGREDIENTS

6 oz (1.5 cups) slivered almonds, toasted and cooled
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3 tbl unsalted butter, cold in small cubes
1 medium orange, zested and 3 tbl of juice extracted
1 tbl Amaretto
Nutella (optional)

PREPARATION

Preheat oven to 325 F and butter a baking sheet or jelly roll pan. Combine almonds, sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a food processor. Pulse until well combined and almonds are finely chopped. Add zest and butter, and pulse until crumbly. Remove from processor into a bowl, and combine with Amaretto and orange juice. Form roughly 1 tbl of dough into balls and flatten to 1.5" rounds on cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes. Once cool, ice with Nutella (optional). Serve with glasses of Little Helper.
